On 16 of November the sky looked more colorful than ever, as evening set in the Kite Fest picked up. School students, college students and fellows of Deshpande Foundation had a unique experience something that would linger in their memory for long. Not all knew to fly kites, slum children experts in this skill guided elders and made them comfortable.
Kite is symbolic in many ways; it’s a poor child’s world of dreams, hope and aspirations, something that goes against the wind right up in the sky. This fest meant fun for the people in it but the logistics gives it the feel of a social entrepreneurship, we had purchased the kites from slum children staying just behind BVB campus, they make kites during their leisure time and sell it at very low cost. Our moto for this fest was to help the child to earn profit by strategic planning. We sold the kites at higher prize to the participants and also involved the children for sales. They understood the value of effective marketing. The children were happy to see people appreciating their sport, and we did get our point to them, lots of people want to fly, Are you asking them to?
